How to Make an AI Rap Video From a Photo

Oct 15, 2026HookaiHookai

Make an AI rap video from a photo: upload one clear picture, pick a theme, choose model and length, then render a lip-synced clip with native audio.

An AI rap video used to mean a stack of tools: lyrics in a chat window, a track in a song generator, stills in an image model, animation somewhere else, then an edit in CapCut. Hookai collapses that into one path — one photo and a theme in, a lip-synced rap video with its own vocals and beat out.

Where a step depends on something still being built, we say so in plain words, so nobody plans around a feature that does not exist yet.

What you actually need

  • One clear photo. Front-facing, well lit, no sunglasses, no heavy filters. A duo video takes a second photo.
  • A theme — a birthday, a team, a mood — or a short verse prompt of your own if you want to steer the lyrics.
  • About ten minutes, most of it waiting on the render.

You do not need lyrics to paste and you do not need a finished song to upload. Hookai generates the rap audio together with the video.

Step 1: Upload the photo

Pick the person who should be on screen. The generator casts that face as the rapper and keeps it consistent across the clip, so photo quality is the single biggest lever you control:

  • One person per photo — no group shots
  • Facing the camera, eyes visible, no sunglasses
  • Even light beats dramatic shadows
  • No heavy beauty filters; they fight the face match

For a duo video, add a second photo for the featured artist. Character lock keeps both faces recognizable instead of blending them.

Step 2: Pick the scene and theme

Choose the scene and the theme you want the rap to be about — or write your own short verse prompt describing the vibe and message. The theme is what the model writes and performs against, so a concrete theme ("birthday hype for a 30th") works better than a vague one ("make it cool").

Pasting your own lyrics and uploading a track or a Suno export are planned features. They are not in the UI yet, so build your first video around the theme prompt.

Step 3: Choose model, resolution and length

Pick the model, the resolution, the aspect ratio and the clip length:

  • Resolution — 480P at 150 credits, or 720P at 300 credits, chosen per video. If it is your first run with new photos, start at 480P to see how the face lands, then redo the good ones at 720P.
  • Aspect ratio — 9:16 vertical by default, plus 16:9 and 1:1.
  • Length — 5 to 15 seconds, with 10 seconds as the default.

Step 4: Render, then fix what looks off

Hit Render our rap and you get a first cut in minutes. Vocals and beat are generated with the picture, so there is no separate audio step. Failed renders are refunded automatically.

When a render feels wrong, work through this list:

  • Swap in a better front-facing photo — it fixes more "bad lip-sync" cases than anything else
  • Tighten the theme so the performance has a clear target
  • Re-render at 480P instead of burning credits guessing
  • Shot-level regenerate is planned, not in the UI yet; for now a re-render is the way to fix a weak shot

Step 5: Download and post

Download the MP4 and post it to TikTok, Reels, Shorts or YouTube. No timeline editing required — but CapCut is still fine for a final trim or a text overlay if you want one. Your video stays downloadable for 7 days, so grab it right away.

The part people get wrong

  • Uploading someone who did not agree. Permissioned faces only. No public figures, no minors, no deceptive deepfakes.
  • Expecting a phoneme score. Nobody has measured Hookai's accuracy yet, so we do not publish a number.
  • Blaming the model for a bad photo. Most "bad lip-sync" stories start with a blurry, side-facing or over-filtered picture.

FAQ

Do I need a finished track to use Hookai? No. Hookai generates the rap audio with the video, so there is nothing to upload first. Pasting lyrics and uploading your own track or a Suno export are planned for later.

Which resolution should I pick first? 480P at 150 credits for a test, 720P at 300 credits for the take you will post.

How long does a video take? A few minutes per render. We do not publish a benchmark because none has been measured on production traffic yet.

What happens if a render fails? Credits are refunded automatically. That part is live.

Can I sell or monetise the video? Paid users may use their generated videos for personal and commercial promotion — ads, social and client marketing for their own brand or business — but not resell them as a competing AI video service. See the Terms of Service for the exact wording.

Does Hookai use Suno? No. Hookai does not call Suno APIs and generates the rap audio itself. Importing a Suno track is planned for later.

Ready?

Open the generator, drop in a photo and pick a theme, and see where the current build lands. If you want to know how this compares with the music-first route, read From Suno to an AI rap video next.
